Movado Hosts Exclusive Event with artist Kenny Scharf at its South Coast Plaza Boutique | 2009
On Thursday, September 10, 2009, Movado hosted a ‘meet the artist’ event with acclaimed artist Kenny Scharf at the Movado boutique located in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, California. Kenny was the evening’s guest of honor as the six limited edition Kenny Scharf Movado Artists’ Series timepieces featuring his bold, colorful dial designs were launched. Produced in limited editions of 125 individually numbered pieces, each intriguing Kenny Scharf watch comes specially packaged in a matching Scharf-design box.<br><br>Guests enjoyed sparkling champagne and donuts (one of Kenny’s favorite treats and artistic subject matter) and the opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ Kenny Scharf. An interview with the artist was conducted by Mary Leach, Movado Group’s Chief Marketing Officer, providing guests with the opportunity to get to know Kenny up close and personal. A book signing featuring his recently released collaboration of artistic works past and present was held at the event. This signed edition will be offered as a gift to purchasers of the limited edition collector’s set which features all six watch designs housed in a custom-designed presentation box.

Commemorating this auspicious milestone, Movado has released a limited edition Museum® Watch designed with a leather double-wrap strap that signifies the movement and the fluidity of dance. Movado, which enjoys a prolific partnership with Macy's, is proud to continue its support of Macy’s Passport, the highest profile component in Macy’s West’s year-round commitment to give back to the communities it serves. As of last year, Macy’s Passport had raised twenty-five million dollars for organizations in San Francisco, Los Angeles and other communities in its western market region. <br /><br />The theme for the 2008 Passport fundraiser, in collaboration with the Keith Haring foundation, was a celebration of the renowned artist's life – Haring would have turned 50 in 2008. The Movado lounge space, designed by the Movado Creative team as part of the VIP reception experience in San Francisco and Los Angeles, was a reflective tribute to the modernism of Haring's art and Movado’s iconic dial design. A selection of watches from the Movado Artists’ Series was also on prominent display in the lounge. These innovative, limited edition timepieces are an expression of Movado's commitment to the fine arts and individual artistry, and evidence of the brand's role as a visionary leader in the creation and exploration of modern design.

On Monday, September 16, 2008, Movado and Derek Jeter hosted an exclusive event at The Four Seasons Restaurant in New York, NY to introduce an exceptional collection of Limited and Special Edition Movado Series 800™ Derek Jeter Chronographs.
Movado worked closely with Derek Jeter to develop the Movado Series 800 timepieces. Being the exceptional strategist that he is, Derek collaborated with Movado’s Design Team, providing valuable input into the development of his four groundbreaking new Series 800 models. Uniting strength, beauty, design and performance, this outstanding chronograph collection comprises four distinctive models – including two exceptional Limited Editions powered by fine Swiss automatic movements: 100 pieces have been crafted for the Limited Edition Movado Series 800 Derek Jeter Automatic Chronograph in 18K rose gold and black PVD-finished Performance Steel™. Only 10 pieces have been created for the Limited Edition Movado Series 800™ Derek Jeter Automatic Chronograph in precious, solid 18K rose gold. In honor of Derek, the rotor of the fine self-winding movement that powers both of these remarkable limited edition timepieces is decorated with Derek’s number, 2. Movado Celebrates 60 years of Modern Design and Honors 2007 Future Legendss | 2007
On Wednesday, October 24, 2007, Movado held a special event at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the iconic Museum dial and to honor the second annual awards recipients in the Movado Future Legendss program, a unique initiative that is helping to nurture a future generation of artists with exceptional abilities and commitment to their craft.
Kerry Washington, Mia Maestro, Celerie Kemble, John Bartlett, and Gilles Mendel are just a few of the guests who came out to honor the Future Legendss award winners and enjoy an exhibit of papers from the archives of designer Nathan George Horwitt and special Movado Museum dial watches.
Three of this country’s most prestigious arts institutions were invited to identify Movado Future Legendss – individuals who are undoubtedly on the path to becoming major forces in their fields.
The award recipients included design team Doshi Levien selected by Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum; dancer Kirk Henning selected by The Suzanne Farrell Ballet on behalf of The Kennedy Center; and dancer Doug Letheren selected by the Baryshnikov Arts Center.
The awards ceremony was thrilling, with Mikhail Baryshnikov presenting the award to Doug Letheren, Suzanne Farrell presenting the award to Kirk Henning, and Paul Warwick Thompson presenting the award to Doshi Levien partners Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien.
Following the presentation, guests enjoyed a special performance by renowned jazz artist Wynton Marsalis accompanied by jazz pianist and one of last year’s Future Legendss Award winners, Jonathan Batiste.

Movado Honors Billy Crystal with Limited Edition Movado Watch | 2007
On October 11, Movado joined The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as the institution honored comedy icon Billy Crystal with the Mark Twain prize for his contribution to American Humor. Movado Celebrates Opening of South Coast Plaza Boutique
On Thursday, June 28, Movado held a special event with Vanity Fair to celebrate the grand opening of its South Coast Plaza Boutique. The Orange County Performing Arts Center also joined in the celebration, with Candlelight Chair Pat Poss and Candlelight Encore Chair Jan Landstrom present to help host the event.<br /><br />Guests from all over Orange County came out to meet world-renowned violinist and VIP guest Sarah Chang. Everyone tried on beautiful Movado watches and jewelry and checked out an exclusive exhibition of iconic Vanity Fair images while enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a live jazz performance.<br /><br />Movado donated a percentage of the evening’s sales to the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

Movado Celebrates the New York City Ballet Spring Gala and World Premiere of Peter Martins’ <span class="italic">Romeo + Juliet</span> | 2007
On Tuesday, May 1, Movado was a proud sponsor of the New York City Ballet Spring Gala at the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center. Movado Group President and CEO Efraim Grinberg was the evening’s corporate chairman along with Richard D. Beckman of Condé Nast Media Group.
The evening’s events included the World Premiere of Peter Martins’ full-length production of <span class="italic">Romeo + Juliet.</span> Mr. Martins’ production of <span class="italic">Romeo + Juliet</span> featured designs by the acclaimed Danish painter Per Kirkeby, members of NYCB, and students and faculty of the School of American Ballet.
Following the World Premier performance, guests gathered at the Capulet Ball. Guests from Hollywood, fashion and New York social scene donned Juliet-inspired fashions by top designers in honor of the evening’s performance. Movado ambassadors Mia Maestro and Kerry Washington wore exclusive Movado jewelry and were dressed in Alberta Feretti and Lanvin respectively. Other “Juliets” included Lauren Bush dressed by Ralph Lauren, Elizabeth Banks in Tuleh, Naomi Harris in Cynthia Rowly, Anna Paquin dressed by Badgley/Mischka, Michelle Trachtenberg dressed by Vera Wang, Bee Shaffer in Vera Wang, Sasha Pivovarova in Prada and Sylvana Soto-Ward in Tuleh. Event Chairman Fe Sarcino Fendi was also in attendance wearing exclusive Movado jewelry and a one-of-a-kind Movado watch.

New York City Ballet Honors Movado's 125th Anniversary | 2006
Nina Griscom gathered up her New York City Ballet special events committee for an intimate fete honoring the company’s diamond sponsor, Movado, and its 125th anniversary. Candace Bushnell and Charles Askegard, Kate Betts, Susan Tabak and Peter Martin all turned out for the 26-person dinner, held at the New York State Theatre's venerable Green Room and catered by New York City Ballet Alumnus Jock Soto. New York City Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martin was gifted with a special 125th Anniversary Movado Sapphire watch. Attendees wore their new $1,100, limited edition M125 watches. The dial of this exciting new timepiece, available this fall, commemorates Movado's 125 years of artistry and innovation in watch design.

Movado Celebrates the 2006 ALMA Awards | 2006
Movado, world renowned for fine Swiss timepieces, joined the backstage “Talent Retreat” at the 2006 ALMA Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The ALMA Awards were taped on May 7, 2006 and will air on June 5, 2006 on ABC.
Winners and presenters visited the Backstage Creations Celebrity Retreat while waiting for rehearsals and show appearances and chose their favorite Movado watch as a gift for participating in the ALMA Awards.
Host Eva Longoria, along with performers Paulina Rubio, Gloria Estefan, Brian McNight and Constance Marie, and presenters/special guests Marc Anthony, Jessica Alba, Jimmy Smits, Randy Jackson, Freddy Rodriguez, Jay Hernandez and Judy Reyes, to name a few, were thanked for their time and talent.
The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S. They created the ALMA Awards to honor outstanding Latino artistic achievement in television, film, and music and to enhance the Latino image in the entertainment industry.

It was introduced during a special event, co-hosted by Vogue and Movado, held at the new Movado Boutique flagship store in The Mall at Short Hills.<br /><br />Long associated with the arts, Movado is dedicated to its philosophy of clean, modern design and consistently creates fresh, innovative products that reflect this vision. The Proenza Schouler Watch is the latest interpretation of the Movado Museum Watch with its iconic single dot dial.<br /><br />Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Proenza Schouler’s design team, envisioned a watch with a matte copper dial and burnished steel details set in a cuff-style lambskin strap with a top-stitched silk overlay, reflecting their signature style. They worked closely with Movado’s master watchmaking team for nearly a year to bring their vision to reality.<br /><br />Internationally-acclaimed actress and Movado advertising personality Mia Maestro attended the launch event wearing the first watch produced.<br /><br />Efraim Grinberg, Chief Executive Officer and President of Movado Group, presented a check for $10,000 to Meredith Melling Burke, Vogue’s Senior Market Editor, and Stan Herman of the CFDA, to support the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s work in supporting the success of young American designers.

Movado Celebrates the Extraordinary Career of Tennis Legend Pete Sampras at Macy's Los Angeles Passport '05 | 2005
Movado created a special retrospective tribute to tennis legend Pete Sampras, who has been featured in the Movado advertising campaign for 14 years. The grand scale exhibit featured trophies from Sampras’ Grand Slam championships, the racquets with which he won those events, historical photographs and a display featuring his Movado ads over the years along with the iconic Movado watches featured in those ads.
Sampras helped open the Passport show taking the stage with auctioneer Sharon Stone. Together they built excitement which led to an exceptional $35,000 bid for his and hers Movado watches, tennis lessons and lunch with Sampras, and a trip to the US Open.
This Macy’s Passport gala evening took place on the evening of Thursday, September 29, at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. CA. This season was the 23rd for Passport, which has raised over $20 million to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Kerry Washington Models a Movado Necklace at Macy’s Passport | 2005
Acclaimed actress and Movado international advertising campaign personality Kerry Washington, whose credits include the blockbuster films Ray and The Fantastic Four, as well as appearances on Boston Legal, brought her exceptional presence and style to Macy’s Passport ’05 in San Francisco.<br /><br />On Thursday, September 22, she opened the VIP gala runway show in front of more than 3,000 guests, modeling a stunning Movado sapphire and diamond necklace that was auctioned for $5,000 to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.<br /><br />Movado is a sponsor of Macy’s Passport, an inspiring organization that has raised more than $20 million over the past 23 years to benefit HIV/AIDS research, care, prevention, and education programs.

Wynton Marsalis Plays Special Concert to Introduce Limited Edition Timepiece | 2005
To celebrate the introduction of the limited edition Movado Wynton Marsalis watch, Wynton Marsalis and his quartet played a special concert at the atrium at the Time Warner Center on the evening of Tuesday, October 11th. The event was open to the public and images of the performance and live jazz music were broadcast throughout the Center.<br /><br />The Movado Wynton Marsalis Limited Edition Fiero Tonneau Watch is crafted of tungsten carbide and features a case back engraved with Wynton Marsalis’s signature. The watch is presented in a special limited edition box with Mr. Marsalis’s signature on the inside, a certificate of authenticity and an exclusive Wynton Marsalis CD.<br /><br />Following his performance, Marsalis attended an elegant cocktail soiree held at the Tourneau store at the Time Warner Center, meeting and greeting Movado and Tourneau guests.<br /><br />In honor of the performance, Movado made a contribution to the Higher Ground Relief Fund, a fund that Jazz at Lincoln Center has established to benefit musicians, music industry enterprises and other individuals and entities from the greater New Orleans area who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina, and to provide other general hurricane relief. It will be administered through the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
