Elegant. Innovative. Iconic. Celebrated.

1996: Vizio

A post-modern watch design of architectural inspiration, Vizio was a visionary new expression of Movado’s unwavering commitment to design innovation – balanced and technically brilliant. The mind-set of the designer was to achieve a balance of form and content. The starting point from which the design evolved was a unique bracelet construction. This architectural system was balanced by the classic purity of the case and dial.

The fine Swiss quartz-powered launch collection featured stainless steel bracelet models of clean, angular design in four distinct sizes ranging from 24mm to 35mm. The simple round bezels were crafted of tungsten carbide. There were two 3-hand dial offerings with subtle minute indexes. One featured applied cabochon markers, two Roman numerals and a circular date display, the other 12 clean Arabic numerals.

Vizio means “vision” in the international language of Esperanto – an apt description for every element of this breakthrough design, right down to the cube-shaped, brushed and engine-turned steel box in which it was packaged.
