2003: New Museum Automatic
Designed in 1947, the single dot Museum dial, acclaimed for purity of design unrivaled in the history of timekeeping, had long been regarded as an icon of Modern design – classic, modern, timeless. In 2003, Movado celebrated this famous trademarked design that stands the test of time, issuing a new crocodile-embossed strap model powered by a fine 21-jewel Swiss self-winding movement.
Maintaining the simple circular shape of the original, the new case featured more distinctively sculpted lugs that curved back, offering new elegance and ergonomic comfort, along with an exhibition case back to reveal the inner workings of the intricately engineered mechanism. The dial preserved the simplicity and proportion of the 1947 design with a flat dot at 12 o’clock and thin baton hands. The new Museum Automatic was available in ultra-fashionable white or classic black, in two sizes.
