Max Bill – "bill-time"
Born in Switzerland, Max Bill (1908 – 1994) is regarded as the founder of a systematic and logical school of art designated, “Concrete Art”. Inspired by the Bauhaus school of design and the legendary Parisian “Abstraction-Creation” group famous in the 1930’s, Bill’s works are found in over fifty public collections and museums in Europe, the Americas and Japan.
“bill-time”, the Max Bill Watch commissioned by Movado in 1992, is a color construction creating an integrated dial and bracelet. The octagonal sterling silver case serves as the frame of the “painting” on the watch face. The intricate harmony of color on the dial is replicated on the bracelet through the application of enamel on the sterling silver links.
