She garnered critical acclaim for her role in The Last King of Scotland opposite Forest Whitaker for which she was nominated for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture’ at the NAACP Image Awards in 2007. In 2009, Kerry made her Broadway debut in David Mamet’s Race. In 2010, she starred in the Tyler Perry film For Colored Girls with an all-star cast of actresses. Kerry is set to play the lead role in Scandal, the new ABC series by Shonda Rimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy. An advocate of the arts and supporter of social causes, Kerry was appointed by President Barak Obama to the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities in 2009.
