MOVADO X Carmen Herrera

In October 2021, Movado debuted an Artist Series
collaboration with Carmen Herrera, a renowned 106-year-
old Cuban-American artist. Herrera’s style, defined by bold
colors, strong lines, and dynamic geometric forms, is a
perfect complement to the clean, modern design of
Movado’s iconic Museum Dial. Her groundbreaking
creations are a unique cross-cultural dialogue within the
international history of modernist abstraction.

In 2020, Movado partnered with renowned celebrity
fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski to launch its first
Artist Series in nearly a decade. The collection paired the
iconic Museum Dial with four of Lubomirski’s photographs,
portraying Alexi’s artistic interpretation of time through the
lens of Light, Water, Illumination and City Scenes. In
keeping with Lubomirski’s environmental activism and
veganism, each watch is fitted with a vegan strap and used
recycled packaging—a first for Movado as part of a new
initiative towards greater corporate responsibility.

In 2009, Movado collaborated with American Pop Surrealist
Kenny Scharf to create an eye-catching collection of seven
watches—Movado Time, Burple Time, Universal Time,
Ontime, Starring the Star, and Time Flies. Each dial is a
colorful, captivating work of art, housed in a clean round
stainless steel case with a custom-engraved band.

did so in 1994 with his Movado Artist Series, which helped
raise funds to benefit children around the world. Reflecting
his belief that, “we should fill our lives with color and hope,”
the dial of Britto’s watch depicts two human faces in vivid
red and orange. The strap continues this exuberant design
in vibrant silk-screened vinyl.

Swiss artist and designer Max Bill is perhaps best known as
the founder of the Concrete Art movement. His 1993
collaboration with Movado captured his integration of
geometry and color into his art practice. His design, Bill-
time, is defined by a graceful gradient of rainbow hues
which achieve a harmony of color and form. The octagonal
case and link bracelet are cast in silver, reflecting Bill’s
background as a silversmith.

Movado in 1991 to create Elapse, Eclipse, Ellipse, a truly
unique take on a world-time watch with three separate
mechanical movements. The free-form case consists of
three dials that appear to melt together yet each retains its
individuality due to painted dials that Rosenquist called
“floating pictures.”

indicated by two brushes pained on rotating disks of wafer-
thin glass.

In 1989 Movado partnered with Yaacov Agam, famed
Israeli Kinetic artist, to create quartet of collections:
Rainbow, Multidimension, Galaxy, and Lovestar. Each
collection consisted of four pieces—a pocket watch, a clock
and two wristwatches—that reflected Agam’s intrest in color
and motion.

the irrepressible Andy Warhol in 1988. Designed by Warhol,
the timepiece reflects his fascination with multiple
photographic images and everyday objects. Produced
posthumously after Warhol’s death in 1987, Times 5 was
comprised of five separate watches in rectangular cases
linked to form a bracelet. Each features a series of black-
and-white photos of New York on the dial.
