Our iconic Museum Dial was created by Nathan George
Horwitt, a noted American modernist designs in 1947.
The clean, elegantly, minimal design of the Museum Dial
served as Horwitt’s exploration of the concept of time—
stripping the dial of any unnecessary complications and taking
time telling back to where it began, with the sundial—a single,
signature dot representing the sun at high noon.
The Museum Classic is an icon of modern design featured in art
institutions around the world. It represents the core of Movado—our
expression of beauty and function.
In 1960, the Museum Dial became the first watch dial to be
accepted into the permanent collection of New York City’s
Museum of Modern Art, forever marking its place in
modern design.
